Pacific Internet hits the road again to market Net time

Priya Srinivasan
FEBRUARY 22: Pacific Internet, the Singapore-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) and a recent entrant in the Indian ISP market has launched yet another round of roadshows here on Tuesday to market Internet time. The company has resorted to several roadshows to display and sell their `product kits'.

Pacific Internet has identified about 13 shops across Mumbai where their representatives sell the product to customers. What the product kit comprises basically is a slew of freebies that various companies who have tied up with Pacific Internet have to offer. So a consumer buying Internet time from Pacific Internet could also avail of anything from free software to mouse pads, sling bags, special discounts on a host of services and even sachets of Nescafe creamer as part of the deal.

This, apart from what the `owner' of Pacific's Internet time can win if he entered the `Pacific Internet Sweepstakes and other assorted schemes. Pacific Internet is the first ISP in India to take its product to the streets.

The company claims to bring to the table its five years of experience in marketing Internet time in the seven countries "Internet Pacific has adopted the policy of going to the consumer instead of expecting them to come to us, we do roadshows all the time and they have been hugely successful" explains Mohana Pillai, president, Pacific Internet India. "We have just launched our fourth set of roadshows here and they have all been very successful so far, we manage to book hundreds of orders in each round" says Pillai. "This strategy is in keeping with our approach to the Internet - that is is for everyone".

Pacific Internet offers prepaid `Surf all Day' and `Surf all night' schemes where they also offer a discount on renewal tariffs. Day tariffs range from Rs 399 for 10 hours to Rs 2399 for 700 hours of Internet access for 3 months. The scheme also includes packages which include Net access for a period of 6 or 12 months. While the tariff for 100 hours to be used within 12 months is Rs 1,995, the tariff for fifty hours to be used within 6 months is Rs 1,099. The company also offers a unique surf-by- night scheme (10 pm to 8 am) where 200 hours is priced at Rs 1,995.
