Satyam Comp hogs limelight on the CSE

Calcutta/Chennai Feb 4: Hitting of a new high by the Sathyam Computer scrip on hectic buying support highlighted trading on the Calcutta Stock Exchange on Friday marking the opening of the new account. Select other infotech counters also favoured by buyers while Reliance extended the recent buoyant to finish with fair gains and SBI finished higher on balance.

Elsewhere, price movements were somewhat restricted with select scrips easing from the previous closing rates. The turnover was large and undertone was steady. The CSE's 40-share index fluctuated between 2408.37 and 2364.78 points but closed at 2369.57 points.

Sathyam Computer firmed up to Rs 3081.10 and Pentafour Software to Rs 1806.80 while Reliance move ahead to close at Rs 344.20 and SBI finished at Rs 256.60 reflecting sustained support.

But HLL reversed to Rs 2354.30 and select others like Bata, ACC also finished lower. The ICICI counter moved sharply upwards to close at Rs.143.30 on brisk buying. The non-specified group was selectively steady.

Infotech counters further improved to settle with handsome gains on good buying support while a few select counters declined on lack of buying support to close with marginal losses on the Madrs Stock Exchange.The MSE index slightly fell by 1.34 points to close at 5436.77.

Odessy Tech shot up by Rs 23.40 to Rs 380. Fortune Info hardened by Rs 38.65 to Rs 570.45. Cybermate rose by Rs 25.90 to Rs 408.40. Compwinfos strengthened by Rs 16.70 to Rs 241.35.
