MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 4: Which is the Indian Web site with maximum hits or eyballs? No, it's not Rediff.com or IndiaWorld. Perhaps, it is the Chief Vigilance Commission's (CVC) new site that names corrupt Indian bureacrats! The website was created by CVC to make public all officials who are facing charges and since then been receiving large hits from not only the cyber community but also from the curious public."The website was one of the best ways to fight corruption," CVC N Vittal said. He said that IT was an effective tool against corruption as it exposes the inefficient. ```If India is corruption free, there will a 1.5 per cent increase in GDP and the foreign investment will grow by almost 12 per cent,'' Vittal said.
Vittal lauded the first generation entreprenuers for becoming self-created millionaires and said that their efforts to promote the same spirit was what India required.
``IT must be a catalyst to uplift those millions below the poverty line,'' he said. The IT industry is fresh from all ills that abode the other core industries as it saw the learning curve well in advance.
He, however, cautioned against all and sundry entering the markets in the name of infotech companies. ``A hair oil company can now come up with an IPO calling it HairOil Infotech,'' he said.
Speaking on the same forum, Infinity chairman Saurabh Srivastava felt that the Government has to take lead through efficient e-governance.And for IT industry itself, he said that the time has come to stop `me too' kind of business. ``Innovation is key and you can't just look West,'' he said.
