Netpreneurs get valuation tips from Murthy

Sanjay Jog
MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 3: "To get a good team with qualitative products, create access to the markets, find venture capital at the right valuation and ultimately maximise valuation for the company, the shareholders, employees, customer and government of the land," Infosys chairman and CEO NR Narayana Murthy said, "are the essentials to become a successful chief executive officer."

"It's a very challenging role, a tough act to follow. The CEO should set his aspirations high and pay attention on how to get work done better, faster and cheaper," Murthy told a gathering of budding IT entrepreneurs at a seminar on "entrepreneurship in the IT paradigm," at the Nasscom e-summit here on Thursday. An entrepreneur should be able to see from the point of view of customers, employees, he pointed out.

That helps build brand equity in and outside India.

"Entrepreneurs should devise revenue models and with the help of fast changing technologies try to reduce cost, the cycle time and increase productivity," Murthy added. Murthy, whose company has been calling the shots at the Nasdaq, said that the entrepreneurs should take up the challenge of building a global brand equity. By this, he means that "produce where it is cheap and sell where it is the most profitable."
