CyberBazaar plans expansion via venture capital

Bangalore, Feb 1: Bangalore-based telecom services start-up CyberBazaar(India) Pvt Ltd is seeking a venture capital route to fund its expansionplan. The expansion kitty is likely to be around Rs 10 crore though themodalities are yet to be worked out.

CyberBazaar Pvt Ltd managing director Rajeev K Purnaiya told The FinancialExpress that the firm was working towards market expansion by providing morevalue-added telecom services, including data-conferencing for corporatemarket.

The company provides its `3+ TeleMeet' conferencing facilities (bothdomestic and overseas conferencing) for around 50 large corporates. Hubstations are expected to be set up in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai as part ofthe expansion, Purnaiya said. Post-expansion, the company was looking at a200 per cent growth in subscriber base, he added.

Data-conferencing, which allows data transfers for simultaneous viewingduring a conference call would be introduced within the next three months,he said.

Data, files, voice sharing/recording and white board facility for makingnotes during a conference call would also be made available soon. Thisfacility was being tested on the company's intranet, Purnaiya said.

The 3+ TeleMeet service operates on a network hosted on Department ofTelecommunication (DoT) backbone. The 2mb E1 digital connectivity link(under licence from DoT) can facilitate up to 60 simultaneous participantsin a single conference.

The company has been allotted 10,000 special numbers for the service. Eachcompany is given a special number while making a reservation (which ispossible on their web-site or directly).

Once the meeting is scheduled, the people can either dial in or dial out fora conference using a particular code. "The special password given for eachconference provides security while the digital link ensures better qualityaudio transfers," said CyberBazaar director (sales and marketing) SandeepMehra.

The provision to link a domestic conference to an overseas conference linkto facilitate group conferencing had also been put in place, Mehra said. Theconference service is possible using conventional telephony equipment(telephone or mobile). A service charge of Rs 10 (approximate) per minutewas levied per conference, Mehra said.

The company is also actively looking at similar services through fax, voiceand data driven towards the corporate market.``We are looking at becoming aone-stop-shop for value added telecom services. Our expansion plan seeks toleverage the niche corporate sector,'' Purnaiya said.

CyberBazaar also works on software package development for in-house billing,contact management and reservation management catering to the corporatemarket.
