K&S Cap picks up 15% stake in Y-Axis Solutions

Baburajan K
Mumbai, Feb 1: The Hyderabad-based K&S Capital, an infotech and power consultancy firm, has acquired a 15 per cent equity stake in the start-up Y-Axis Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

Y-Axis, the promoting company of Y-Axis.com, is also planning to further sell a 20 per cent stake to venture capital funds (VCFs) over the next three months. The company claims that it has plans to set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in the US over the next two weeks.

``Preliminary talks are on with a couple of VCFs to raise funds. Since we are yet to conduct any valuation of the company, I cannot comment on the price at which Y-Axis will offer the stake. However, this will be at a premium as compared to the equity offered to K&S Capital,'' Y-Axis Solutions president and CEO Xavier Augustin said.

Y-Axis is planning to forge alliances with country portals for co-branding as part of its expansion plans in India. The website was launched in December 1999. In addition to this, the portal allows consulting firms manage their entire business from one single window.

Augustin said the company had already injected about Rs 1.6 crore to build the portal.

``We are readying to launch our services in China in March, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia in April and Russia, Bulgaria and a host of other countries in May 2000,'' he added.

The portal intends to market its database and tools to attract H1B job holders. Company officials claimed that Y-Axis.com is the world's first vertical H1B portal and is positioned to become the largest database of foreign infotech professionals willing to relocate to the US.

Its magazines and newsletters provide an updated information, careers technology and issues relating to working and living in the United States. The portal's `12 Digital Nations' is an informative magazine with tips of where to work within the US. A section on `The world's Silicon Vally' showcases the software talents and infrastructure. The content section also offers `Jobs this week' - a section that updates all jobs advertised in newspapers and magazines.
