GANDHINAGAR, FEBRUARY 1: Gujarat government has decided to undertake a campaign to create awareness among the people to save water by launching a `Sardar Patel Water Saving Scheme,' and taking out campaign yatras in rural areas of the state.Finance and revenue minister Vajubhai Vala said that the save water campaign yatras would be taken out from February 10 to 16 covering four regions of the state. People in rural areas would be made aware of drinking water and irrigation schemes, he said adding 2,000 check dams would be built and a sum of Rs 60 crore would be allocated in the budget for the purpose.
The water supply and irrigation department of the state government had issued a government resolution sanctioning the formation of the `Sardar patel Water Saving Scheme' and taking up of the work on check dams, wells, recharge of wells with the cooperation of the government and the people of the state.
