Abita to help in agriculture

FEBRUARY 1: In continuation of its efforts to improve plight of the rural population, the Assam branch of Indian Tea Association (Abita), has decided to undertake in agricultural development programme in central Assam's Sonitpur district. This was decided at a meeting of the Abita held at Tezpur on Monday, which was presided by its chairman SS Sindhu.

Under the project the agricultural land would be covered for the purpose of "ahu" cultivation in 10 different blocks of the district. The earlier agricultural development projects launched by the Abita have been hugely successful, especially in the sectors of sunflower cultivation in Koliabor and growing potatos and mustard seeds.
