MSE index dips 94 points

CHENNAI, JANUARY 31: Equities drifted lower on selling pressure on the Madras Stock Market today. However, a few counters improved to finish with modest gains.

The MSE share price index weakened by 94.49 points to close at 5427.33 against the previous day's close of 5521.82 points.

Larsen declined by Rs 11.25 to Rs 417.50. TELCO wound up at Rs 175. Ashok Leyland drifted by Rs 4.20 to Rs 118.35, AVT Natural by Rs 5.75 to Rs 151.25 and Electropoly by Rs 5 to Rs 60. Arvind Remedies, Alacrity Elect, Dr Agarwal, GV Films, India Cement Capital, Investment Trust, Kilkotagiri, Maanjushree Plant and Periakaramalai were easier.

Among software counters, Fortune Infotmatic dropped by Rs 14.80 to Rs 503.20, Odyssey Tech by Rs 11.15 to Rs 374.40, Gemini Communication by Rs 4.30 to Rs 86.60, California Soft by Rs 16.15 to Rs 225.65, Compundyne Winfos by Rs 1.80 to Rs 183.35, Helios Mathesson by Rs 10.10 to Rs 116.40.

Kashyap Radiant declined by Rs 4.65 to Rs 215.75, Cirlac Data by Rs 1.30 to Rs 24.80 and Encore Info by Rs 2.45 to Rs 30.60. But Synergy Log improved by Rs 7.20 to Rs 153.50. Cybermate went up to Rs 299.15 from Rs 277. Advent Computer, innovative soft, Octagon Tech and Ram Informatics finished better.

Amrutanjan recovered by Rs 6 to Rs 390 and Rajapalayam moved up to Rs 1875 from Rs 1855.30. Rane Brake, Rane Madras, RGN Securities, Sanmar Properties, Zenith Computer, Elnet Tech Hatsun Agro, Ctiyman Cloth and Kerala Ayurvedic all posted moderate gains.
