Apollo Hospital joins hands with IT majors for Mednet

HYDERABAD, JANUARY 31: In a rare convergence of medicine and information technology, the leaders in healthcare, information technology and finance have decided to pool their strengths to provide health care delivary systems for the medical fraternity in India.

Apollo Hospital has joined hands with Wipro, NIIT, Satyam Online, Countrywide Finance and Citadel Health to form a group in the name of "Mednet". According to Chandra Sekhar, Co-ordinator of Mednet, the newly formed association will provide hardware, software, internet connectivity and training to the medical practitioner to upgrade skills using information technology.

Citadel Health will provide customized software while Wipro makes available the hardware - a multimedia PC with modem and printer. Satyam Online extends internet connectivity and the doctor can refer the patient to Apollo Hospitals for second opinion. The bundled package including hardware, software and other services together priced at Rs 68,000 and the buyer can utilise the special hire purchase facility from Countrywide Finance, said Sekhar.
