Mumbai, Jan 31: Pharmaceutical company Rhone-Poulenc India has registered an 8.3 per cent slide in net profit for April-December 1999 to Rs 18.5 crore from 20.2 crore in the corresponding period previous year.Net profit (before prior year adjustment) for the third quarter was Rs 6.41 crore as against Rs 6.39 crore in the same period a year earlier.
The company's sales for the first nine months were Rs 168 crore, up 10.9 per cent from Rs 151.4 crore a year ago. The company said that the tax set-off is on voluntary retirement scheme of Rs 10.1 crore pro-rated to the quarter.
Net sales for the third quarter earned the company Rs 51.7 crore as against Rs 49.9 crore in the same period a year ago. Total expenditure for the Q3 stood at Rs 43.4 crore as against the previous year's comparable figure of Rs 43.1 crore, while for the nine-month period it stood at Rs 142.8 crore as against Rs 133.3 crore in the similar period a year earlier.
