Ahmedabad, Jan 25: The grand finale of the Amul-Surabhi national search forreal-life `utterly butterly delicious' Amul Butter Girl and Amul Cheese Boywill conclude at Anand, the milk capital of India, on Thursday.The Amul-Surabhi contest has been arranged by Anand-based GujaratCo-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF).
While the `Amul Butter Girl' was created by Amul for hoardings, print andtelevision ads 33 years ago, the `Amul Cheese Boy' was conceptualised sixmonths ago.
The final contest for the real-life `Amul Girl' and `Amul Boy' will behosted by Siddharth Kak and Renuka Shahane. The three-day all-India finalcontest will be held through January 25-27, selecting the winners from thefirst round of contests held in different states earlier.
The final contest will also be telecast as a special Amul-Surabhi show onDoordarshan, which has already been listed by the Limca Book of Records asthe as the longest running prime time television show with the highestmeasured viewership -- the show attracts 14.5 lakh letters every week.
For making the contest broad-based, GCMMF had directly gone to 10,000schools in the last four months across the country, and covers schoolchildren is in three categories.
A rich bounty of gifts and prizes, including a Pentium home computer, awaitsthe national winners, while the state level winners have already walked awaywith Amul gift hampers and prizes like walkmans, calculators andcommendations.
