New Delhi, Jan 25: The Government on Tuesday promulgated an ordinance for reconstituting the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and set up a Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal.The ordinance follows President KR Narayanan giving his nod to the ordinance on Monday. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (amendment) ordinance 2000 provides for redrafting of section 11 (I) of the act, making a clear distinction between the recommendatory and advisory functions of the authority and the regulatory functions to be discharged by it.
All past applications pending for adjudication of disputes before the body, shall stand transferred to the new tribunal on its establishment.
