New Delhi, Jan 25: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) on Tuesday expressed concern over the government's decision to impose a cap on duty drawback availability to the silk carpet industry and called for a review of the decision. An Assocham statement said the industry was shocked that the government had announced a duty drawback reduction from ten per cent of freight-on-board value to a maximum of Rs 132 per square metre which will cripple this silk carpet industry.
"Not only an export of Rs 280 crore from the silk carpet industry will get affected but over 20 lakh families will be without employment and the state's law and order situation might further deteriorate.
