Avantel's new Insat-based MSS reporting terminal

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
Hyderabad, Januaryy 25: A hand held device using the Insat satellite which enables transmission of information from any remote location of the country to the headquarters has been developed by a Hyderabad-based telecom company.

With the technology from the Ahmedabad-based space application centre of the ISRO, Avantel Softech Ltd (ASL) has developed an Insat-based mobile satellite services (MSS) reporting terminal, ASL managing director A vidyasagar told reporters here on Tuesday. The MSS terminal, the hand held device, is a first of its kind in India, he said.

ASL, a ISO 9001 certified company, recognised by the department for scientific and industrial research, has been producing not only the components but also RF and microwave sub-systems for defence labs and leading PSUs. Building on an early start and on the foundation of tested technology, the company ventured into multi-access rural radio (MARR) systems for DoT in the mid nineties. Its wireless products division is also actively engaged in the manufacture of components for wireless systems like power amplifier, wireline couplers and cavity diplexers and sub-sytems for microwave and satellite communications (Satcom).

The company has developed embedded software and network management systems (NMS) for access products. Avantel has also developed and implemented ERP to serve its in-house computing needs and is well positioned to offer a comprehensive and integrated ERP system under the brand name `Funwork'.

The software division at Avantel proposes to leverage its strength in telecom software and ERP to offer solutions by integrating Internet, e-commerce, client-server and networking technologies.
