New Delhi, January 24: The overall power generation in the country has shown a growth of 7.4 per cent from April to December, 1999 over the corresponding period the previous year. According to an official release on Monday, the thermal and nuclear generations showed a remarkable growth of 9.7 and 9.6 per cent respectively. The All-India plant load factor (plf) was 65.6 per cent as against 62.1 per cent target. The all-India PLF was 62.6 per cent during the corresponding period of the previous year.Overall 355.2 billion units of electricity was generated against a target of 345.4 billion units, thereby exceeding the target by 2.9 per cent. The overall generation target exceeded in all region except north-eastern region (NER) and western region (WR). The region-wise percentage figures are northern region (107.3 per cent), WR (98.9 per cent), southern region (112.3 per cent), eastern region (ER) (109.9 per cent) and NER (102.5 per cent).
During December, 1999, the percentage generation achieved vis-a-vis ofthe target was 101.2 per cent for thermal, 99.4 per cent for nuclear and 100 per cent for hydro power.
The two power stations of NTPC in the Central sector achieved PLF exceeding 90 per cent. These are Singrauli super thermal power station with 92.7 per cent and Dadri with 95.6 per cent PLF. In the state sector, Rayalseema thermal power station of Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB) again achieved the highest PLF of 95.3 per cent.
