Kochi, January 24: The Thrissur-based Dhanalakshmi Bank Ltd has entered into strategic tieups with a slew of mutual fund majors in the country for retailing their products through its 200-odd strong branch network mainly in South Indian markets. The bank has also entered the international credit card business by making an arrangement with the Andhra Bank, the franchise for international co-branded credit cards Master and Visa, for providing encashing facility for international credit card holders, mainly the visiting foreign travellers.
The bank's move came in the wake of its Vision 2000 mission unveiled early last year. The recast plan, in view of the shrinking margins in the fund-based business, put the fee-based activities on top of the new product line. Since then the bank has been in talks with various MFs and credit card companies to hawk their products and offer other services. Top sources in the bank told The Financial Express that the Dhanalakshmi Bank had signed agreement with four mutual fundmajors to retail the products through its branches since early this month.
