Power supply hit as UPSEB strike enters second day
JANUARY 16: Power generation and supply in Uttar Pradesh continued to be seriously affected on the second day on Sunday of the indefinite strike by an estimated one lakh powermen. Over 150 protesters were arrested and 5,000 courted arrest overnight.An official spokesman claimed thermal power generation in the state stood at 1125 mw against 2500 mw on normal days. But a spokesman forhe powermen's joint action committee, spearheading the agitation against the state government's trifurcation of the UP State Electricity Board, said power generation in the state had plummeted to 450 mw.
