Russian company invited
JANUARY 16: India has invited Russian undertaking Transstroi for participating in competitive bidding in the highway sector. The offer was made during a meeting of surface transport minister Rajnath Singh and Viktor Khristenko, first deputy prime minister of Russian Federation. The visiting minister was accompanied by a six-member delegation including the deputy minister for trade. The joint venture project for Transcontinental Rail Corridor and North-South Transport Corridor also figured in the discussion. Singh also raised the issues of outstanding freight payments due to the Indian shipping lines up to March 1992 and retrieval of 1,650 containers of the Shipping Corporation of India from the Russian ports.
