Bangalore, January 16: Texas instruments (India) Ltd is working on various new software products and chips for Voice over IP and cable modems in association with a couple of overseas firms - recently acquired by its parent company - with a focus on broadband access in the digital signal processing (DSP) market.According to TI India director DSP product development Sham Banerji, the company was working in close association with Telogy Networks of US and Libit of Israel to develop certain software and DSP chips. Telogy would provide systems expertise to TI India to develop software used in VoIP chips while Libit would help them develop certain software and chips used in cable modems. These two companies were recently bought over by Texas Instruments Inc spending $1billion.
TI India also works in association with Cisco Systems to develop IP application solutions. TI Inc accounts for over 80 per cent of the VoIP chip market in the world.
Other areas of focus in India include developing software tools andDSP application software for the Silicon Family (C-2000) chips. The company would also develop certain specific tools for C-5000 & C-6000 series while the complete development of these products would be carried out in various facilities of Texas Instruments in France, Japan and US. TI India would also focus on Application Specific, IC design tools.
TI India is also working on eXpress DSP, an integrated software development environment for developing DSP applications code in a standardised and re-usable manner. The new tool was expected to cut the development time by half and the code is re-usable and can be used in a plug-and-play manner in many applications.
He said TI India would focus on digital control market which would have greater relevance in terms of Indian context. ``We will also look at various convergence technologies to provide more efficient, cheaper, and lighter motors for various digital products'' Banerji said.
