Mumbai, Jan 3: There have been instances galore that superior military technology can win a modern day war. The United States marines found going tough in the Middle-East, fighting against Saddam Hussein's army as well as extreme weather conditions but eventually prevailed backed by superior technology.Although combat training simulation solutions have been used by the armies around the world, a new software developed by Motorola promises a lot. ModIOS Box, a complete combat training simulation management and visualisation solution, uses commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies to cut costs and streamline the training process.
The product is a virtual-reality exercise management package that enables military trainers to manage an entire combat training simulation through a commercial PC workstation. It offers military trainers configurable control of a wide range of virtual-simulation tools such as a 2D Plan View Display (PVD), a real-time 3D perspective stealth view display and voice communications that are distributed over a simulation network.
ModIOS Box also maximises the automation by reducing instructor workload with automatic exercise management functions, event detection and automatic performance report generation, all critical functions in the training process.
Motorola is also planning to come out with some more advanced solutions that can expand defence forces operational capabilities.
