CHENNAI, DECEMBER 24: Equities, after initial firmness, declined on increased selling coupled with profit-taking on the Madras Stock Exchange on Friday and settled with modest losses. But select counters improved to finish with small to modest gains.The MSE share price index, after touching 5053.45, moved down to close at 5016.05 against the previous day's close of 5052.65, losing 36.60 points. Among software counters, California Soft, after touching Rs 301, settled fractionally higher at Rs 279.20, while Polaris dropped by Rs 10.40 to Rs 1425. Gemini Communication declined by Rs 10.15 to Rs 116.95, Cybermate by Rs 18.25 to Rs 211 and Synergy Log by Rs 4.45 to Rs 88.30. CG Vak Soft slid by Rs 1.75 to Rs 91. DSQ Software improved by Rs 6 to Rs 852. Compudyne Winfos rose by Rs 12.90 to Rs 184.60 and Kashyap Radiant by Rs 10.30 to Rs 139.50.
Encore Info and Ram Informatics finished better. Fortune Informatics further strengthened by Rs 28.85 to Rs 403. Info Drive, Innovative Soft, Octagon Tech, Advent Computer, Logixmicro and Pertech Computer also edged down. Odyssey Tech firmed up by Rs 12.30 to Rs 218.65.
Amrutanjan declined by Rs 9 to Rs 401. Femnor Mineral, Cirlac Data, Dev Fasteners, Kumbhat Finance, Pradeep Drug, RSL Industries, RGN Securities, SIP Industries, TGF Media, TTG Industries and Uniport Computer all dropped marginally. Periakaramalai ruled steady at Rs 55.
On the Mumbai Stock Exchange, equities suffered a major setback following massive bull unloading coupled with squaring up of position by operators.
