New Delhi, Dec 23: The board of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) on Thursday cleared a proposal of the power utility's participation in Petronet LNG.NTPC would now have a 10 per cent equity in Petronet LNG making the holding company a consortium of four national oil companies and one power utility, corporation sources said.
As per the plan, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petrloeum Corporation, Gas Authorithy of India and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, which presently hold 12.5 per cent stake each in Petronet LNG, would dilute their stake by 2.5 per cent each to accommodate NTPC with 10 per cent equity. Petronet LNG is setting up two LNG terminals at Dahej in Gujarat and Kochi in Kerala to import a total of 7.5 m tonnes of fuel.
