Bangalore, Dec 24: BPL Wireless Telecommunication Services Ltd, a part of the BPL Telecom Business Group, has unveiled Internet messaging services on its paging network. The new service would be available on BPL Connect's paging networks in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala and Karnataka.The messaging service would be available in two variations including Web and e-mail messaging. Web messaging enables subscribers to receive e-mail from anywhere in the world on their pager. The sender can log on to the BPL Connect web site - www.bplconnet.com - and enter the indicated fields and submit for the message to reach the subscriber immediately, BPL Telecom Ltd chief technology officer Sira G Rao told mediapersons.
The e-mail messaging service is an extension of the basic website-based service. Through this service the sender can send e-mail messages to the subscriber to his pager without logging on to the BPL Connect website. The subscriber, however, would have to avail the BPL Connect e-mail ID - pagernumber@ bplconnect.com.
``With the launch of new value-added services, the company is looking at a revenue of Rs 25 crore during the current fiscal. Our subscribers are accessible to more people at no extra cost and this will help us improve the number of subscribers,'' BPL Wireless Telecommunication Services Ltd deputy chief executive officer AJ Ishwar Kumar said. BPL has also announced the launch of its advertising channel, call centre services and STD-free messaging to its paging subscribers totalling about 60,000. The company is planning to assist Hindustan Lever in customer care for its Pepsodent brand, offering call centre services.
With the help of STD-free messaging, subscribers can receive messages from callers through a local call anywhere within the three states at the cost of a local call.
