Mumbai, Dec 24: Union minister for employment and poverty alleviation Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Friday announced a Rs 1,000-crore financial assistance for 1999-2000 from Hudco for housing and infrastructure development of Maharashtra.Dhindsa announced the assistance package after taking a comprehensive review of housing, slum rehabilitation, water supply and sanitation, new town development under Cidco, police housing and government's two million housing programme in Maharashtra with senior officials of the state government.
The minister announced the package covering a wide spectrum of development with long-term vision to cover housing and related infrastructure development of the state. This includes of Rs 260 crore assistance out of Rs 1,500 crore for the next three years for water supply and sanitation for 46 cities, Rs 300 crore for road development, Rs 300 crore for housing for MHADA and about Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore to Cidco for infrastructure development in Navi Mumbai.
