India, Bangladesh to have microwave link
India and Bangladesh on Thursday joined hands to establish a microwave link between Agartala and Brahaman Bari for enhancing long distance communications between the two nations. This was decided between communications minister Ramvilas Paswan and Bangladesh minister for home, post and telecommunications Mohammad Nasim in New Delhi. Both countries also decided to convert the existing analogue link to digital optical fibre cable link via Bongaon.SDRC gets ABB Business Services order

Acer unveils TravelMate notebook
Acer India has unveiled TravelMate 505 notebook. Eqiupped with Intel's Mobile Celetron processors, the product has a fully built-in 24xCD-ROM drive, a floppy disk drive and internal 56Kbps international data/fax modem. TravelMate laptop would be available for Rs 79,900. Acer's TimeMachine technology protects the product from all operating system dangers. In the event of an operating system based problem, TimeMachine returns the entire system to a configurations snapshot recorded at an earlier time.
Botree Software to hive off units
Chennai-based software development company Botree Software International Ltd is planning to hive off its strategic business units as joint venture companies and is scouting for partners in India and abroad. "We plan to spin off our four units as separate joint venture companies within the country or overseas. We are currently in the process of hiring consultants who would scout for partners," chief executive officer of the company, Mohan V Mathew, told PTI. Mathew said the company was in talks with Ernst & young, KPMG and AF Ferguson for the mandate to find the JV partners.
