New Delhi, Dec 2: BPL Appliances has discontinued its advertisement claiming faster rate of cooking on its gas stoves compared to similar rival products, following a stay order issued by the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC).In its application to the MRTPC, BPL Appliances stated that it has discontinued the impunged advertisement claiming faster rate of cooking by 40 per cent compared to other gas stoves. It also agreed not to repeat such advertisements with a similar claim in future.
Accepting the application filed by BPL Appliances, the MRTPC discharged the notice of enquiry issued by it last year on a complaint filed by Gas Appliances Manufacturers Association.
"There is no hitch or hinderance in accepting this application moved by BPL Appliances at this stage," MRTPC chairman A N Divecha and member R L Sudhir said passing the order recently.
"The requirements of section 36D(2) Of the MRTP act are thus found satisfied," the bench said.
