Archies new designs
Achies Greetings & Gifts Ltd has launched `design a Card contest' for children in three age groups: 6 to 8 year olds; 8 to 12 and 12 to 16. Spread across 120 cities, through 400 Archies outlets, the contest closes on December 15. The children are required to mail their entries in pre-addressed envelopes to Archies outlets. The theme: birthday, friendship, Mom/dad or any other subjects of interest. Ten winners from each category will be awarded with gift coupons worth Rs 1,000 each. The contest, which started on December 1, 1999, is being communicated through MTV, Discovery Channel and the print media.

New business gains for AP Lintas cross Rs 100 crore
Advertising major Lintas India Ltd has expanded its client base with the acquisition of a host of new accounts in 1999. Amongst the more prominent clients to be signed on by the agency are: AT&T, Kuoni Travels, Nestle, Alcatel, Usha International, All Out Mosquito Repellent, Amrutanjan, Equal Sweetener, Bank of India, Bharat Petroleum and BSL Suitings. This has enabled the agency to cross the Rs 100 crore mark for billings from new businesses this year.

Goodyear India launches nine products
Goodyear India Ltd has launched nine tyres for earthmovers, passenger cars, MUV, farm applications and LCV. According to Neville P. Moss, chairman and managing director, Goodyear India, ``After the acquisition of South Asia Tyres Ltd and investments of over Rs 3,000 million, Goodyear is now well set to consolidate and enlarge its markets presence in India.'' In the original equipment segment, Goodyear claims to have nearly doubled its market share in the last one year.

Coca-Cola introduces Cool Zone
Coca-Cola India has introduced Cool Zone in India. The patented concept of Cool Zone incorporates an inflatable platform to provide a cooling area within its footprint. It creates a large cooling area based on the principle of Flash Evaporative Cooling consisting of a high-pressure mixture of water and air. The Zone has an area of 625 sq ft which allows up to 125 people `to experience the refreshing feeling'. It was recently unveiled at the 14-day India International Trade Fare '99 in New Delhi where over 5,000 consumers a day experienced the cool ambience.

Visa kicks off Olympics contest
Visa International, in conjunction with the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, has launched Visa Olympics of the Imagination. The contest is aimed at challenging the children in the age group of 9-13 to create an artwork based on the Olympic motto: Citius, Altius, Fortius (faster, higher, stronger). Children can either depict athletes in the midst of a competition, or can choose symbolic images to depict their interpretation, or can dream up an entirely different way to express the theme. One grand prize winner from India will be awarded an all expenses paid five-night, six-day trip to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in Australia, along with one accompanying parent or legal guardian.
