New Delhi, Dec 1: Exports registered an increase of 21.65 per cent duringOctober 1999 touching $3.15 billion as compared to $2.59 billion during thecorresponding month last fiscal.According to the provisional trade data released by directorate general ofcommercial intelligence and statistics (DGCI&S) on Wednesday, exports duringthe first seven months of the financial year (April-October 1999) recorded agrowth of 10.02 per cent. Total exports during the period have beenestimated at $20.76 billion as against $18.87 billion during thecorresponding period last year. In rupee terms, the exports during October1999 totalled Rs 13,707.87 crore registering a growth of 24.85 per cent.During the seven months period, the exports in rupee terms were up by 13.73per cent.
India's imports during October 1999 are valued at $3.90 billion representingan increase of 15.45 per cent over the corresponding month last year.Imports during the first seven months have been estimated at $26.55 billion,up from 7.53 per cent from the level recorded during April-October 1998.
