Escorts Yamaha sales jump 37%
Escorts Yamaha Motors has posted a 37.4 per cent jump in motorcycles sales at 20,500 units in November this year against 15,217 units in the same month last year. The company recorded a 269 per cent growth in sales of "YBX" range of motorcycles during the review month by selling 5,456 units against 1,477 units a year ago, a company release said. Rajdoot sales also went up by 69.6 per cent to 8,000 units in the month compared to 4,716 units in November 1998.

Novartis' HealthNews Cast
Novartis India has launched HealthNews Cast, an innovative information organiser providing key medical news to healthcare professionals from sources of the highest reliability and trust, including Reuters Medical and Med-Line. HealthNews Cast gives fast and easy access to selected medical news as per customers' preferences. A company press release said that access to the Reuters Archives allows a user to access medical information for the past five years while access to the National Library of Medicine's search engine searches databases of abstracts from leading medical journals.

Floatglass bags BSE nod
Floatglass India has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that its board of directors have approved the decision to allot five lakh, 10 per cent redeemable preference shares aggregating Rs five crore to Asahi Glass Co of Japan.

Unisearch providing IT services
Unisearch, a speciality division of Unichem Laboratories, is providing a number of IT-related services to over 3,000 cardiologists attending the 51st annual conference of the Cardiology Society of India from December 2-5, at New Delhi. Cardiologists are being familiarised with the Internet and its medical applications and a booklet "Learning Internet with Losar", a ready reckoner, has been specially designed for doctors. Losar is an anti-hypertensive launched by Unichem Labs.

Kitply to double capacity
Kitply Industries plans to enhance the present capacity of its decorative laminate unit at Igatpuri in Maharashtra from 30,000 sheets per month to 60,000 sheets per month. The expansion scheme will entail an investment of Rs 8 crore, which will be met by term loans from institutions/banks and internal accruals. The company hopes to implement the scheme within about a year. The laminate unit was acquired as a sick industrial unit from Sicom in 1998 and it is operating at 100 per cent capacity.

Eicher to up Royal Enfield power
Automobile major Eicher Ltd plans to launch two more models of Royal Enfield bike in 500cc and 600cc. "Royal Enfield demand comes from those seeking power," Eicher group vice-chairman S Sandilya said. The group had commissioned another plant at Jaipur to manufacture Enfield a month ago besides the one at Chennai. "The Chennai production is almost sold out," the vice-chairman said. The new plant would soon reach its full capacity, Sandilya added.
