New Delhi ,Nov 28: The defence ministry, Gujarat government, Coir Board and SEA SRL Automatic Gates from Italy won the top laurels for the best pavilions at the 19th India International Trade Fair which concluded here Saturday.The awards were presented at a special function by Union minister of state for commerce Omar Abdullah. Also present on the occasion were chairman and managing director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation Yogesh Chandra and executive director ITPO, KT Chacko.
Complimenting the ITPO for organising the trade fair, Abdullah said it had become a mirror of the progress achieved by the country in various spheres. The IITF had over the years come to serve as a barometer of the industrial progress of the country. While the defence ministry won the gold medal for the best pavilion in the central Government pavilion category, the silver medals were shared by the rural development ministry and department of ocean development.
Among the state government pavilions, Gujarat won the goldmedal while the silver medals went to the Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh pavilions. Special commendations were given to the Delhi, Nagaland, Orissa and Bihar pavilions. Andaman and Nicobar Islands won the silver medal among the union territories.
