Aptech to start knowledge management course

Suman Layak
Calcutta, Nov 25: Aptech Ltd is launching a high-end course on knowledge management at 30 centres all over India in January, according to Aptech executive director Pramod Khera.

The course will be launched in the Asset centres, that cater to high-end courses of Aptech and contribute around 11-12 per cent of the company's revenues from education and training.

Speaking to The Financial Express, Khera said, "the course will be aimed at software professionals and corporations that want to develop as knowledge corporations."

"Knowledge will define competition in the future and all infotech architectures will be built to enhance the use of knowledge. The course will cover technologies that will be needed to build knowledge corporations," Khera said.

"It will train students in capturing knowledge that is available in small pockets and pool them together for use by the entire corporation," Khera added.

The training will be on knowledge management tools and technology and will also include a small project onknowledge management. "Most probably the design will be based on Lotus technology," Khera added.

The Aptech course will be the first comprehensive course in knowledge management in India. The duration of the course will be between four and six months.

The Asset centres (100 in number) are likely to contribute around Rs 30-40 crore to Aptech's revenues this year. The centres train around 10,000 students every year.

Asset has just entered into an agreement to launch an Asset centre in South Africa. This is the first Asset centre outside the Saarc countries.

Speaking about the African market, Khera said, "only in South Africa do we have a scope for launching high-end courses. The rest of the African market is very similar to what India was five years back and we are starting Aptech centres in many of the African nations."
