Mumbai, Nov 24: Indian Oil, India's largest commercial enterprise has moved to the 43rd position (sales $15 billion and profits $539.1 million) in the Asiaweek list of 1000 largest companies in Asia for the year 1999.Last year, Indian Oil was ranked 61st by sales. Indian Oil is the only Indian company to figure in the top 150 companies in the Asiaweek 1000. The two closest competitors to Indian Oil from India were Hindustan Petroleum (sales $6.30 billion) at 157th rank followed by Bharat Petroleum (sales $6.21 billion) at 162nd position, a Indian Oil release said.
Amongst the companies listed outside Japan, Indian Oil is ranked seventh largest in Asia. Amongst oil companies in Asia, Indian Oil is ranked third after China National Petroleum Corporation ($32.6 billion) of China and Nippon Oil ($18.3 billion) of Japan.
