SSI capital limit to be scaled down
The Government will reduce the capital investment limit for small-scale industries to Rs 1 crore from Rs 3 crore, minister of state for SSI and agriculture and rural industries Vasundhara Raje, said on Wednesday. "There is no change in the plan to reduce the SSI capital limit, it would remain at Rs 1 crore", the minister said on the sidelines of a seminar on biotechnology and food processing here. She said the cabinet decision to reduce the capital investment limit could not be implemented last time due to the fall of the Vajpayee government.L&T bags Rs 71.3-crore order
Engineering, construction and cement conglomerate Larsen & Toubro Ltd said on Wednesday it had secured a Rs 71.3 crore order for building an automated dairy plant. L&T said in a statement the order was from National Dairy Development Board for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the plant at Palanpur in the western state of Gujarat. "The plant will process 650,000 litres per day of milk and is suitable for the manufacture of 60 tonnes per day of milk powder," it said. L&T said the entire plant had to be ready for commissioning by December 31, 2000.
Herbertsons dividend at 25%
Herbertsons, the Mumbai-based UB group company, has maintained dividend at 25 per cent for the year ended march 31, 1999. During the year, the company recorded a turnover of Rs 268 crore as compared to Rs 220 crore in the previous year, a growth of 22 per cent. The company also achieved a 14 per cent growth in volume. Its net profit stood at Rs 4.98 crore as compared to Rs 5.02 crore last year.
Voltas air-conditions Opera House
Voltas has airconditioned the newly constructed Opera House at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA). The company has said that the air-conditioning of the auditorium and the stage has been achieved through cooled and dehumidified air supplied by air handling units specially designed for the purpose.
