Mumbai, Nov 23: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC)-the official trade promotion body for Hong Kong-organised a road show in Mumbai on Tuesday to woo Indian traders to participate in international trade fairs and exhibitions held every year in the special administrative region. This is the first road show held by the council in Mumbai.According to the HKTDC's senior manager (Exhibitions) Patrick Wong, the council is vying for "genuine quality" Indian manufacturers and traders of optics, electronics, jewellery, watches, gifts and houseware to exhibit their goods. "The trade fairs will provide them a platform to promote their business," he said.
"The purpose of holding road shows in India is to discuss business opportunities with Indian traders and provide them a chance of exhibiting their items at these trade fairs," he told reporters.
HKTDC is slated to hold another road show in New Delhi on Thursday. The council has in the past organised similar roadshows in other Asian cities like Seoul, Manila, Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore, Shanghai and Guangzao.HKTDC organises 18 international trade fairs in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre every year. Last year, over 10,000 exhibitors and 2,20,000 trade visitors from all over world participated in trade fairs.
