Mumbai, Nov 23: Apple India unveiled iBook, a notebook (portable) personalcomputer (PC) targeted at the small office and home office (SOHO) segmenthere on Tuesday.According to Naren Ayyar, managing director of Apple Computer, the companywas looking at reducing the time gap between international launches and thelaunches in India.
Running high on the success of iMac, the iBook has been priced at Rs 1.07,lakh. At this price, the machine operates on the Mac 8.6. It also comesfully loaded with Appleworks, Netscape Communicator, Internet Explorer,Outlook Express, Palm Desktop, World Book Encyclopedia.
The iBook features "all day" battery life of up to six hours,Pentium-toasting performance and Apple's revolutionary AirPort wirelessinternet networking for cable-free internet access in two colours.It also remains the only laptop to be featured at the Singapore art galleryas a work of art.
The machine has a fast power G3 processor running at 300 Mhz with a highspeed L2 cache. It is also fitted with an in-built 56K modem and has a 24XCD-Rom drive.
The 32mb SDRAM present in the machine is expandable to 160 MB. It alsoincorporates a 3.2 GB hard disk driver.
