Experts for R&D on power tillers

Coimbatore, Nov 21: The need for agricultural research and development centres to focus attention on the design problems posed by power tillers was stressed at a workshop last week. Delivering the chairman's address at the12th workshop of All India Coordinated Research Project on power tillers, Alam, deputy director general of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research said farmers, using power tillers, were facing a lot of hardships, including lack of after sales service. Stating that number of power tillers were being used as transport mode Alam told researchers and engineers to address the problems.NS Srivatsava, additional director general (engg) ICAR, co-chairman at the workshop, said about Rs 30,000 crore had been invested in manufacture of farm related machineries of which Rs 20,000 crore accounted for farm equipment and remaining on post-harvest machines.
