Nairobi, Nov 21: The Coffee Board of Kenya said on Thursday output in the 1999/2000 year was likely to exceed the forecast 80,000 tonnes after good rains in key growing areas."Most areas have received adequate rain in the last few days resulting in heavy picking and flowering in the main coffee growing parts of the country," the board said in a statement.
Kenya produced 66,000 tonnes in 1998/99 (Oct-Sept).
A dry spell in Brazil, the world's leading producer has lifted prices by over 21 percent on the local market, the board said, urging farmers to protect the quality of their crop.
