New Delhi, Nov 18: Agarwal Global Ltd, an e-publishing house, is negotiatingwith US-based software and publishing companies for a strategic alliance.AGL chairman Rajendra Agarwal told The Financial Express that talks were onwith five US companies for international marketing rights of AGL productsand vice-versa. Agarwal, however, did not disclose the names of hiscompany's potential partners.AGL is launching Exim Cyclopedia later this month on CD-ROM which, itclaims, is a one-step guide to government's foreign trade policy andregulations. The product has already received Microsoft certification.
The Cyclopedia will contain all policy procedures and rules on export andimport trade, customs and central excise tariffs, export promotion schemes,handbook of procedures with standard input-output and value-addition norms,Acts related to foreign trade, RBI Act, complete export documentation andspecimen forms required to be filled by exporters and importers, Agarwalsaid.
"The CD-ROM will be launched with the basic aim of saving precious time andresources lost in going through reams of paper on Exim-related information.We have listed all information according to ITC (HS) codes in auser-friendly format," he said. The CD-ROM has been priced at Rs 7,500.Subscribers will receive free updates of all Exim-related legal changes madeby the government through both mailers and the company's website --www.agarwalglobal.com.
According to Agarwal, the CD-ROM contains 10,000 pages of information whichis otherwise contained in over 25 books related to various policies, laws,tariff structures and Acts.
The CD-ROM has been developed after 18 months of research and compilationwork by a team of software professionals.
The company now plans to launch a business directory on CD-ROM which wouldlist over 2.5 lakh business addresses from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcuttaand Bangalore. A CD-ROM on Vastu Shastra, an astrology-related science, isalso under preparation.
Agarwal said the user-friendliness of the Exim Cyclopedia comes from itsindigenously developed software base, standard 32-bit windows GUIapplications, outline of the contents through a tree-view, multiple windowoperations etc.
