Orbitel gets Net licence
Orbitel Communications, a joint venture between Russian space agency OKB MEI and Orbitel Communications, has been issued an all India licence for providing internet services. The joint venture plans to diversify in the area of broadcasting, satellite phone, e-commerce, tele-education and software development. The Indian company holds 51 per cent equity in the joint venture, a company statement said.

Mittal honourary consul of Seychelles
Seychelles has appointed Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman and group managing director of Bharti Enterprises as its honourary consul. Bharti Enterprises had recently launched telecom services including cellular, fixed line and also as an international gateway operator in Seychelles. In a special communication from Rashtrapati Bhawan, President KR Narayanan approved the appointment of Mittal, a company release said.

Channel V Philippines set up
Channel V Music Networks Ltd Partnership has announced the setting up of its sixth service in the Asia-Pacific region, Channel V Philippines. The official launch will take place before the year-end. The company has entered into a joint venture with GMA, a leading media company in the Philippines, to bring the service. Said Channel V managing director Steve Smith, "GMA has a strong presence in the Philippines and it is an honour for us to have established this partnership."

Techspan, BEA in alliance
Techspan Inc, one of the leading players in providing e-xecution TM services to internet start-ups, and BEA Systems Inc, one of the largest middleware company in the US, have on Thursday, entered into a strategic partnership to provide solutions, services and support for the BEA e-commerce transaction platform.
