The Quality Agenda
CII's 7th Quality Summit being held in the Capital from November 17-19, will set the agenda for 1999-2000 for all players: the govt, institutions and industry. The summit will be addressed by Defence Minister George Fernandes and key personalities who will address the summit include the `Guru to industry' Dr Eliyahu Goldratt and Prof Y Tsuda, the Quality Guru From Japan. The summit will cover wide ranging subjects like Achieving Business Excellence, Implementing Lean Thinking, Designing World Class Products, Competence Building Using QC Tools etc.
The Quality Summit was conceived by the TQM division of CII to help Indian industry emerge as a strong player in the global market by implementing TQM practices. The event is held every year and attracts over 400 TQM professionals and CEOs.
Omega honours Dilip Kumar
Swiss watch manufacturing company Omega presented the `Omega Award for Excellence' to Dilip Kumar, the legendary actor. The award recognises and commemorates individual excellence and achievement in various fields such as cinema and fashion. Dilip Kumar was presented with an Omega Constellation.
Fem launches peach soap
Fem Care Pharma has launched a peach fragrance in its liquid soap category. Fem soft and gentle soaps are already available in bouquet, blossom and lemon dew fragrances. Available in an imported dispenser pack of 250 ml, the peach fragrance Fem liquid soap is priced at Rs 51. It is also available in economic refill packs of 250 ml, 1 litre and 5 litres, priced at Rs 42, Rs 114 and Rs 519, respectively.
Twigs expands range
Twigs, the leisure wear label for girls and semi-formals for women, has added a new range to its existing product line. Designed for girls in the age group 16 to 25 and for ladies in the age group 25 to 40, the price ranges between Rs 300 to Rs 700. Made of 100 per cent cotton, viscose and blends, the Twigs range comprises a variety of tops, twin sets, pullovers and dresses in textured, jacquards and stripes.
Twigs is also introducing for the first time a range of woollens for both women and girls. The Twigs range will be retailed through leading department stores such as Crossroads, Sheetal, Amarsons and Premsons in Mumbai. The range is also available at leading stores in Indore, Chennai, Goa, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Delhi.
Millennium range from Tefal
Tefal India has announced the introduction of the Millennium range in India. The new range is divided into three categories: cookware, electrical appliances and kitchen accessories, all featuring fully imported products that are leaders in their categories. The new cookware ranges, Avantage and Optimal come with durable vitreous enamel exteriors and non-stick interiors, Eureka stackable cooking sets with detachable handles. The electrical range features high-speed electric kettles, steam irons, toasters and a mini fryer.
IMCI national convention
The Institute of Management Consultants of India (IMCI) has chosen Ahmedabad for its ninth national convention, scheduled for November 19-20 this year. Responding to the present Indian Economic and Business Environment, the central theme of the Convention is `Managing in the New Millennium - Strategies for Global Vision.'
