New Delhi, Nov 8: The Gas Authority of India Limited's (GAIL) liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant at its Auraiya petrochemicals complex in Uttar Pradesh began trial production on Friday (November 5,) five months ahead of schedule.The Rs 439 crore project was scheduled for commissioning in April next year.The sixth LPG plant within the GAIL family now takes up the Rs 6,473 crore-turnover gas transmission and petrochemicals company's LPG producing capacity to a million tonne per year.
The Gas Authority of India already produces close to seven lakh tonne of LPG from its plants at Vijaipur (in Madhya Pradesh), Vaghodia (in Gujarat), Usar (in Maharashtra) and Lakwa (in Assam.) The Auraiya plant has an annual capacity to produce 2.58 lakh tonne of LPG and another 71,000 tonne of propane.
The company is setting up another LPG plant at Gandhar in Gujarat. According to a GAIL release, the Rs 361 crore project is scheduled for completion in January.
