Zee, Bennet & Coleman among major bidders for FM broadcasting
New Delhi, Nov 8: Over 450 tender documents have been picked up for 140 FM radio broadcasting stations to be set up in 40 cities across the country. According to Information & Broadcasting ministry officials, among those to pick up the documents include leading media and publishing outfits with several of them picking up 40 documents with the intent of having a nation-wide presence. Zee Telefilms Ltd and Bennet & Coleman Ltd are believed to be among those who picked up 40 documents.

According to officials, the station earmarked in each centre for education may also be offered to the private sector through a bidding process. The government had earlier set apart one station in each centre to be used for education.

Monday was the last date for the sale of the documents. Thursday is the cut off date for submission of the tender documents. Along with the tender documents the applicants have to enclose demand draft for earnest money deposit. The opening of the tenders will begin from November 19 onwards.
