In the first three months of 1999, the Net economy pumped in$108 billion to the US economy, compared to $64 billion in the same periodlast year, an increase of 68 per cent.

At this rate, the Net economy will far outgrow established Americanindustries such as telecommunication ($300 billion) and airlines ($355billion), the study said.

The study found that e-commerce (the amount of business conducted directlyon the Net) increased 127 per cent in the first quarter of 1999, compared tothe same period in 1998.
