Bangalore, Nov 7: The-Chennai-Based Maars Software International Ltd is working towards web-enabling their ERP product, Maarsman by January 2000, according to the company's vice president N Rammohan. Currently, the product is being test run.Maarsman, a product of the company's ERP division is an integrated software used to streamline systems and procedures. The Java-based ERP solution targets small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and would integrate entire manufacturing processes of a unit. Maarsman employs client server architecture and runs on a variety of operating systems like Windows, NT Server, UNIX, Linux and Netware. It was modularly structured to enable easy installation, he said.
Rammohan said the on-line product would be a higher-end, flexible version of the one the company currently offers. The web-version would have an on-line help facility which would have a look and feel of Windows' help. Access permission controlled at different levels, standard queries and reports that meet userrequirements would also be a part of the version.
According to Rammohan, the company was also the first to become business associates with IBM to promote their e-commerce services. ``We have recently tied-up with IBM to combine our expertise with theirs to promote e-commerce ventures. This would also help us to convert Maarsman and take it to Europe and Middle East markets where the SME segment has a good concentration.'' Maars recently acquired Systematics a UK-based company and were providing combined software solutions including Euro projects for the European markets, he added.
Rammohan said the company would soon sign joint ventures with a couple of existing software project companies from Europe. A final announcement to this effect would be made by the end of November, he added. Recently the firm invested around Rs 1 crore in its overseas expansion projects. Its recently started Dubai operations were expected to function as a gateway to the Gulf region, he said. On the business growth, Rammohan saidthe company had targeted 100 per cent growth and was looking at a turnover of Rs 70 crore during the calendar year against Rs 30 crore previous year. The company has over 50 ERP installations across the country.
The company's other areas of business include SAP implementations, training and e-commerce, e-business projects and Oracle application tpraining. The firm recently received an ERP project worth $1.5 million from an Atlanta-based health care company.
