Mumbai, Nov 4: To create excitement around its flagship Scotch brand, Seagram's 100 Pipers Deluxe Scotch Whisky, Seagram's is holding a month-long multi-city promotional blitz -- `Party with the Pipers'-with three accomplished Scottish pipers being flown down from Scotland.Seagram's `Party with the Pipers' evening will be held in popular pubs, restaurants, bars and clubs in each city where guests will get to see and hear the Scottish pipers live in action. In addition to the live Scottish music, there would be various contests and promotions, a company press release said.
The `Party with Pipers' trail, after performing at Mumbai between November 4 and November 6, will continue till the end of November to cover Bangalore, Pune, Calcutta and New Delhi, among other centres. Adding a dash of glamour at the promotions in Mumbai will be top Indian models Mark Robinson, Shyla Lopez and Carol Gracias.
Seagram's 100 Pipers was launched in India 1995, and is one of the largest selling brands of scotch whisky in the country. The whole idea behind the Scottish Pipers being flown down stems from the legend of the 100 pipers dating back to the Battle of Bannockburn against the English in 1314, when the Scots were losing. The Scottish general then called forth from the rear, a brand of 100 pipers, whose music so roused the army that they defeated the English. Soon a legend grew around the story: if you taste a good scotch whisky you can hear a piper play. As the Seagram's ad stresses: when its an exceptional scotch whisky can you hear a 100 pipers play. Or, in this case, at least three.
