Honda City sales dip in October
Honda City car sales dipped by 18.4 per cent to 452 units in October against 554 vehicles sold in the same month last year. However, the sales of Honda Siel Cars India declined by 44.7 per cent in October as compared to 1002 units sold in September this year, a company release said. The cumulative sales during the seven months of the current fiscal were 5,268 units, it said. The company has targeted to sell 11,000 units of the car in the current fiscal.

Bajaj Auto October sales rise
Two and three-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto said it sold 127,000 vehicles in October, including completely knocked down (CKD) sets supplied to an affiliate firm, compared to 106,000 units in the year-ago period. Production during the month, including CKD sets was 125,000 units against 101,000 units in the same month last year. Sales in the April-October period fell 4 per cent to 758,000 units compared to 789,000 in the year-ago period.

Cyclone to delay Nalco exports
National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) said on Wednesday that its aluminium exports from the cyclone-hit state of Orissa could be delayed for 15 to 20 days but the commitments will be met. "Export commitments of aluminium metal from Calcutta Port could be delayed by 15 to 20 days," Nalco chairman and managing director P Parvathisem said. "But we will be meeting the export commitments despite the cyclone."

IRE earns Rs 74cr forex in 1998-99
The public sector Indian Rare Earths (IRE) earned Rs 74 crore as foreign exchange during 1998-99 through export of minerals to European countries, according to a senior company official. Talking to reporters, IRE chairman and managing director TK Mukherji said about 278 million tonnes of minerals were available in the country of which only 141 million tonnes were being utilised.

TTL unveils Centrex service
Tata Teleservice had introduced for the first time in the country Centrex (central exchange) service which enables a customer to utilise facilities similar to those provided by an Epabx while retaining the benefits of a direct line. TTL CEO N Srinath, said the system would meet the user's internal telecom needs as well of a direct line.
