Chennai, Nov 3: Despite a low offtake of the product during the season, the Chennai-based KCP Sugar and Industries Corporation Ltd has registered a 198 per cent growth in its net profit earning Rs 6.87 crore for the six months ended September 30, 1999 vis-a-vis Rs 2.30 crore notched during the same period in the last fiscal.The company shows a marginal decrease in net sales at Rs 102.79 crore (Rs 103.82 crore). There has been a slight decrease in its stocks also to Rs 74.14 crore (Rs 75.88 crore). Total expenditure during the period stood at Rs 15.79 crore (Rs 16.11 crore). Interest charges were also down by 16 per cent at Rs 7.07 crore (Rs 8.48 crore).
The provision for depreciation is lower at Rs 26.48 lakh (Rs 1.83 crore). The company has made no provision for taxation, but has stated that it would do so at the end of the financial year.
