Mumbai, Nov 1: Tata Engineering sold 4,744 units of Indica in October 1999, taking the cumulative sales of the car to 26,029 since April 1999 and a total of 28,195 since its launch.Fiat India Automobiles' Uno sales touched 1,525 in October and its mid-size Siena model, the company claimed, posted better-than-average sales during the month with 425 units being sold.
Indica sales in October were down by 5.9 per cent owing to disruption in production and despatches caused by the nation-wide transporters' strike, Tata said in a statement here on Monday.
Indica's market share, however, rose to 7.25 per cent in the six months ended September 30, 1999 from 6.86 per cent up to August 1999.
Fiat claimed it is growing by over 200 per cent in1999-2000.
