Hyderabad, Oct 31: Surana Telecom Ltd, part of the Rs 200-crore Surana group, has reported an impressive performance for the half-year ended September 30, 1999. The turnover has shot up to Rs 28 crore for the half year as against Rs 7.3 crore for the corresponding period during last year, nearly four-fold increase.The company has turned the corner with a net profit of Rs 2.18 crore for the first half as against Rs 29 lakh loss for the same period last year. The net profit for the whole year ended March 31, 1999 was Rs 1.18 crore.
The income from the operations for the second quarter was Rs 12.33 crore as against Rs 3.62 crore for the corresponding period last year, an increase of 241 per cent, while the net profit stood at Rs 1.15 crore as against Rs 40 lakh loss for the same period last year.
The company has received orders worth Rs 4.5 crore for jelly filled cables, Rs 2 crore for jointing kits and Rs 50 lakh for optical fibre cable during September 1999, which is in addition to the Rs 31 crore orders received during July-August.
